Frequently asked Questions

How much are your cakes?

As our cakes and pastries are made to order, the cost is dependent on both the size and design. For a more accurate idea of pricing, it is best to get in touch with us so that we can provide you with a quote.

Do you create fondant cakes?

Yes if your vision includes fondant we will be more than happy to work with you!

Do you create novelty/carved cakes?

We do not, however we can create a cake with a particular theme in mind.

Do you sell sheet cakes or “basic”/simple cakes?

Sheet cakes are ONLY offered with a custom cake order. WHY? Well, we pride ourselves on creating one-of-a-kind works of art, so NO, we do not offer “basic” cakes because that’s just not our style. We work closely with you to make sure each “show stopping” cake is unique and reflects Brown Buttah.

When should I place my order?

The general time frame is around 4 weeks in advance.

Placing Your Order

Once you've looked over our Menu's , we ask that you fill out an Inquiry Forms, which can be found under "Menu" page of this website. Once submitted, you will be contacted within 24-48 hours to discuss further specifics of your order.

After we've had a chance to chat about what you're looking for and land on a design, you will then be sent an invoice (and contact, when applicable). Orders totaling $150 or greater have the option of putting down a 50% deposit with the remaining 50% due 14 days before your event. All custom orders require $150 minimum. Rush orders that are placed with less than two week's notice must pay the full amount at time of booking. There is a 35% rush fee.

Can I make changes to my order?

We advise that you check your order carefully and let me know within 7 days whether changes are needed. Your cake is very important to us and should you require any alterations after that period we will try to do our best to accommodate them. If the alteration affects the cost, or if the preparatory work on your cake has already commenced, Brown Buttah reserves the right to increase the quoted fee accordingly if changes could be made in time .

Can I send you pictures of a pastry I want duplicated?

When it comes to custom cakes or desserts you may absolutely send inspiration photos, but purposely copying another artist's work verbatim is not done at Brown Buttah. It is recommended to point out the things you like about a particular cake or dessert (or send a Pinterest mood board with several photos), that way inspiration can be drawn and applied using our particular style.

How should I transport the cake after collection?

We made every effort to ensure our cakes are sturdily constructed, and professionally boxed for maximum security. However, when transporting your cake, care is still needed. Each dessert/cake, our cake etiquette is accompanied.

How should my cake be stored?

When your cake is collected/delivered, We will issue you/your event coordinator with our cake etiquette which will in detail go over storage and serving information to ensure your delicious cake is served to your guests at its very best.To enjoy your cakes at their freshest, we recommend that they are consumed within 24 hours of delivery/collection. Once the cake or pastries leave our premises we cannot be held responsible for any damages.

Allergies

We openly handle several allergens throughout our kitchen, including dairy, tree nuts, eggs, wheat and others. While we do our best to keep ingredients separate, we cannot guarantee that any of our baked goods are allergen free as we use shared equipment to store, prepare and serve them.
